Wearing of face masks

Update 15/10/2020:

Dear Parents/Carers, as we are now in Tier 2 it is absolutely essential that students attend school with their own mask. As a school we are unable to provide a continuous supply of masks to students. In anticipation of your support, Mrs Bowen.

Original notice:

Dear Parents and Carers, you will be aware that as of midnight last night Walsall entered Tier 2 with regards to Covid restrictions. This will impact upon our current Covid procedures in school with particular reference to the wearing of face masks.

Essentially this means that our children and staff will need to wear face masks whilst inside the buildings in corridors and areas of movement or high density.

Our children and staff will not need to wear masks whilst in lesson/classrooms, on the yard or whilst eating.

We will expect our children to wear their masks on entering and exiting the building and whilst travelling both to and from school whether on our school buses or public transport.

Should our children and staff feel comfortable and would like to wear their masks whilst on the yard they are most welcome to do so.

We met our children on their arrival to school this morning to check if they were in possession of a face mask. If they were not they were presented with one immediately.

As of tomorrow it is important that all students bring a mask with them to wear in school as we do not have an indefinite supply.

We have also taken account of those students who are exempt from wearing masks for medical reasons and have made provision for this by issuing a card explaining that to staff they may meet around school or in lesson.

Both as a parent and  Head teacher I am acutely aware as to how concerning this time is for us all and in particular with regards to our children.

With that in mind I would like to assure you that we continue to do everything in our control to ensure the safety and well-being of our children and staff and would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your ongoing support and encouragement.

Please do not hesitate to contact school should you have any further queries.
