Saddened by the announcement in the summer of the potential closure of Acorns Hospice in Walsall the students of St Thomas More Catholic School decided to take action. A group of sixth form students arranged a simple copper collection to begin with and helped raised the profile of the Hospice and its plight within the school. From there the staff organised a sponsored walk with every year group with sponsorship all going towards the Hospice. We were delighted to raise the sum total of £1289. It is amazing what small change you have that can go to a worthy course!
‘It is highly likely that we have members of our school community and their families that have at some point been supported by the Hospice. It would be remiss of us to do nothing to help the charity in its time of need.’Mrs Chesters
The school has future plans to continue to fundraise and support the Hospice.
