Sports Day postponed

Dear Parents and Carers, I hope you are well.

I am sure you have been monitoring information in the media over recent days regarding rising temperatures, the heat wave we are currently experiencing this week and it would seem to be for the coming week also and the impact this is having in general.

We have been doing the same here at school and especially so with Sports Day in mind, which is scheduled for tomorrow across the day but with full school participation in the afternoon.

I am afraid that I have taken the decision to postpone Sports Day for tomorrow.

I know that many of our students will be disappointed, as are indeed our PE department who have invested significant time and planning for its organisation.

This is not a decision I have made in a hurry but as our playing fields lack significant shade to sit in this would mean that our students would be outside under the sun and in the heat for a prolonged period of time and I must think of everybody’s overall well-being and safety.

This now means that it is normal timetable/lessons and uniform for tomorrow for your children as it is for any other day of the week.

Students do not need to attend in their PE kit and must bring their school bags, equipment and books with them ready for the day.

Our normal Thursday timetable will continue to run.

I do hope you appreciate and understand my reasons for making the decision I have and am, as always, grateful of your continued support.
