Science trip to Culham Science Centre

On Thursday 4th April, Year 13 physicists visited the UK Atomic Energy Nuclear Fusion Research facility at the Culham Science Centre in Oxfordshire. Whilst there, they attended a short lecture on the future of energy generation and the prospect of a fully functional nuclear fusion power plant by 2050. The students then were escorted around the research facility and learned about the remote handling robotics working within the reactor vessel and viewed the control room and diagnostic centre. This enjoyable outreach visit reinforces their study of nuclear physics and the students also gained an insight into how we will power our technology and homes of the future
