Parliament Week at St Thomas More School

Throughout last week all of our students were involved in activities to celebrate Parliament week.  This is a national event across the country whereby students consider and learn about the UK Parliament.  In direct response to student feedback we spent time during registration informing students of the different political parties in our country and varying political ideologies.  This provided a great opportunity for us to discuss our approach to democracy and free speech in our country as well as our rights and responsibilities as citizens of the UK, supporting both our British and Catholic Values.

We were delighted that two of our former students Jack Bowen (currently studying Politics and Sociology at Birmingham University) and Simran Cheema (Labour Councillor for Willenhall South) gave of them time to inspire our young students with their impassionate views explaining why young people should take an interest in politics.  Please do take a look.
