Year 12 and 13 students saw Shakespeare’s classic play ‘Macbeth’ recently when it was performed by the National Theatre at Wolverhampton’s Grand Theatre. Mrs Taylor-Hamblett and Mrs Brown took the students as part of their A level studies.
Students are exploring two Shakespearean tragedies as part of their studies into the genre. Watching Macbeth on stage enabled them to understand features of stagecraft that are not always easily identifiable when reading a play together in class.
Students’ favourite part of the production was the staging which they felt contributed to the dark and brooding atmosphere of the play.
See the National Theatre’s website for rehearsal photos and a commentary video from the director.
