As Head of Key Stage 3 I have been working closely with our Year 7 and Year 8 Pastoral Teams during these first few weeks of the academic year to ensure the return from the summer break has been a positive one. I have been delighted to hear the feedback from staff praising students on the way they have settled back into their lessons and the respectful and caring manner they are moving around the school each day.
I should take this opportunity to welcome our new Year 7 students, they have started fantastically and a number of staff have commented on the enthusiastic and hard-working manner they have displayed so far. The year group have transitioned into secondary school life very quickly and confidently; they have already began creating a year group prayer and motto, handed in some exceptional work booklets completed over the summer and every tutor group have now allocated form monitors with responsibility for checking uniform and equipment each morning.
Over the next few weeks our focus at Key Stage 3 will be keeping these standards high and our aspirations even higher, challenging students to be the absolute best they can be. Getting that perfect balance with school studies, homework tasks and relaxing is the big challenge after a long break, student well-being is one of our main priorities this year so the pastoral team are always there to support anyone who finds this balance a difficult one to master. Thank you for all of your support at home and I am sure this year will be a positive and productive one.
