Introducing Senior Team 2019-2020

In April, the process began to decide the next Head Boy and Head Girl for the coming year. After a rigorous application and interview process, we are proud to present the senior team for 2019-2020.

Courtney Green

Head Girl

I applied for the role of head girl because I genuinely care about making a difference for everyone in our school community. I believe that by working together, myself and the other members of the student senior team can be of value in influencing positive change in our school, and society as a whole. We each have passions that we want to pursue within our role, including diversity in careers, environmental factors and increased mental health support.

I am currently studying physics, maths and sociology which are subjects I thoroughly enjoy. I aspire to go on to study engineering at university and hopefully pursue a career in the engineering sector. Whatever your aspirations are, education is where it all begins so let’s make it a positive experience for all.

As Michelle Obama says “success isn’t about how your life looks to others. It’s about how it feels to you.”

Jagoda Kurzawa

Deputy Head Girl

I wanted to apply for a place on the senior team because I wanted to inspire more people like me to step forward and do the same. I think we are lacking female presence in the STEM subjects. I want to represent and encourage younger girls, who are interested in science and technology, to pursue the subjects further.

I study mathematics, physics and chemistry. I would like to enroll for university, then go on to a career involving aspects of each of my subjects since I am passionate about all of them.

My favourite quote is “empowered women empower women”. As females, we are constantly under the microscope; being strong and surrounding yourself with equally strong and supportive people is essential.

Melissa Blackmore

Deputy Head Girl

My name is Melissa Blackmore and I am currently studying: Accounting, English Literature and Psychology. In the future I hope to go to university to study psychology.

I applied for this role because I wanted to give something back to the school as I appreciate the multiple things that they have done for me over my 6 years of being here. I would thoroughly enjoy working with younger years within our school to guide them in the right direction when it comes to things like Year 11’s picking their A Levels, ensuring they make the right decision and not regret their choices.

I also hope to continue fundraising within our school community and get more students involved in some of the activities that I already do.

Chandar Pal

Head Boy

I am Head Boy at this school. I have been in the role for several weeks after a vigorous selection process involving writing letters to attending an interview. I committed a lot of time and hard work as those who were running, had equally good communication, caring and respectable qualities.

Furthermore, I study a variety of different subjects, these include Maths, History and Business Studies. Having to juggle these with the prospect of head boy is a big ask, nonetheless this is a challenge I am willing to achieve. After Sixth Form, I have the desire to attend university and study economics, this is due to me enjoying this area of study. Anyone who is unsure and is in a predicament, I believe you should do what you love, only you know your true skills and aspirations.
Stephen Hawking once said an inspiring quote proclaiming, “However difficult life may be, there is always something you can do, and succeed at. It matters that you don’t just give up”.

Luke Kidson

Deputy Head Boy

I do three A-level subjects and I am keen to do geography at university My other two subjects are applied science and criminology. By doing geography at university I can then move into a career as a climatologist . The process of which I had to accomplish to be deputy head boy was a formal recruitment process, which started off with a letter explaining why I would like to become deputy head boy, the ambitions that I will put forth to make a change and abilities and talents I hold. After my letter a student and teacher vote tool place. Once that had happened I was invited to attend an interview. They asked me questions such as what I was going to do to make a change and why I wanted to have the role. I was then elected as deputy head.

King Bhebe

Deputy Head Boy

Being in the senior team, I have many responsibilities such as making sure that I am a role model to my peers but also the years below. It is an honour to be deputy head and be part of the senior team because our job is to give ideas how to improve the school but also be the voice for the students in the school. To join the senior team and have this honour, I had to write a personal statement about myself and what I will bring to the senior team and then attend an interview with the senior members of staff.

I study criminology, business studies and history which are subjects I enjoy and interest me. I want to finish sixth form with good grades and go to university to study business. In the future I would also like to start my own business which will be globally recognised by people. I just want to be the best in everything I do and spread positivity.

I want to be the voice of the students.
