Taken from More News:
Hello, I hope this edition of More News finds you well. It is hard to believe that this is the penultimate edition of our school newsletter, where has this year gone?
As is usually the case a tremendous amount of activity is taking place in school. Our external exams have now finished for this academic year. It would be remiss of us as a staff not to to recognise the exemplary manner in which our students in both Years 11 and 13 conducted themselves throughout. Our best wishes and prayers remain with them as we now look forward to their exam results in August. Further details regarding the organisation of and procedures around the collection of their results will be published in due course.
We are very much looking forward to our Induction Evenings and Days for both our new Year 7 and Year 12 students this coming week, Tuesday evening 4th July and Wednesday 5th July with regards to Year 7 and Thursday evening 6th July and Friday 7th July with regards to Year 12. In both instances, significant effort and thought has been dedicated to the programmes created for both cohorts joining us in September.
Our Year 10 students have returned from their week out and about in the world of work. As is always the case our students represented both themselves and our school with admirable professionalism and maturity and were a credit to you, their families. Recognition and thanks must be given to the huge number of work places who welcomed our students, provided extensive and most interesting Work Experience programmes and ensured that our Year Ten students were challenged and encouraged in a safe, secure and productive setting.
Our Year 12 students travelled to the NEC to participate in the annual UCAS convention. Whilst not all will chose university education as their next step, it is never a bad thing to investigate what options and choices are available. In addition to this we will continue to provide discreet and individual careers advice for our Sixth Form students regarding the wide range of post 16 training and employment opportunities that exist and are available.
Much excitement exists at present amongst our students with regards to our school prom for our outgoing Year 11 students and our end of year trips for students in Years 7-12 who have met the criteria explained earlier on in the year.
In addition to this, students from Years 7 and 8 participated in The Big Bang Science Fair whilst our Year 10 students have completed their Geography field trip to Shrewsbury.
Finally, details regarding our provision in/around the next two days of Industrial Action were published on our social media sites for your information. This will be followed by information concerning the appropriate and expected manner in which appointments should be made with school should it be necessary to meet with a member of school staff.
