Hello, I hope you are all well. What a bitter sweet day it has been today here with Team STM. We have seen the departure of our Year 11 and 13 students, which although exciting on the one hand as they leave us to enter a new and exciting phase it is nonetheless sad to see students that we have seen grow since Year 7 for the most part depart our shores. It does tend to pull at the old heart strings and most certainly a day when I tend to resemble good old Ozzy Osborne by the time I am finished saying good bye. We did however do something today that we have never been able to do in the many years that I have bee working at STM and that is to hold a whole school Mass, albeit virtually. It was lovely to be able to gather every Form Tutor, all students in Years 7 – 13 and the many support staff across school together to both celebrate Mass and to say a good bye to our students in a way that is special to our school.
On our return from half term we will be in the month of June and as such will dedicate our thoughts and prayers as a worshipping community to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. This specific period of dedication asks us to remember the caring compassion of Jesus for us his followers. We will decorate our school reception to reflect this. If you are to drop in to reception you can expect to see the statue of the Sacred Heart and our table draped in green as this is the colour of ordinary time.
I would ask that you keep all students in Years 7 – 10 and 12 in your prayers as they will commence their period of PPEs as we return from half term. All details regarding revision have been provided for students and can be found in students’ exercise books or /and on SMH.
We are also looking forward to welcoming our Year 11 or new Year 12 back to school on Monday 7th June for their Sixth Form Induction. This will last the week and will be followed up by virtual provision within the subject areas they are interested in taking next academic year.
