On Tuesday 28th January selected students participated in Emergency First Aid at Work Training. This accredited qualification is designed for students who have an interest in healthcare or first aid.
The course included the topics below and participating candidates are now equipped with the essential skills needed to give safe, prompt and effective first aid in emergency situations. Topics covered by the training included:
- The roles and responsibilities of an emergency first aider
- Assessing an incident
- Managing an unresponsive casualty
- CPR and defibrillation
- Recovery position
- Wounds and bleeding
- Minor injuries
- Cuts, grazes and bruises
- Minor burns and scalds
All participants successfully passed and will receive an accredited qualification that’s valid for 3 years. The course was delivered by The NHS Futures Team. They specialise in supporting schools to explore careers within the NHS. St Thomas More Catholic School has and will continue to work closely with them to equip our students with the knowledge required to make informed decisions about their future career path.
