‘Those we have loved and have died are never really lost; we carry them with us in our hearts.’

This month, the month of the Holy Souls, is an appropriate time to reflect on the place of remembrance in Christian life; our calling to mind of all of those who have died and, following Remembrance Sunday, those who lost their lives in war and conflict. Out of this recalling we can find hope that the sacrifices and tragedies of life can find some meaning in the promises and teachings of Jesus. Our hope is in the resurrection of the dead and our calling, as children of God, is to life everlasting. Our God is a God not of the dead but of the living. So we pray that those who have died, sleep in the peace and presence of Almighty God.

Your Son overcame death and gave us the hope of eternal life.

We pray that all who have faith in Him,

and His message,

may be victorious over death and come to share in His glory.
