Beyond The Words

Since Christmas, a few of our Year 7 boys who enjoy reading have taken part in a book club.

The boys have read a selection of books either alone or in small groups, but this text we have read together.

Each week we have read more chapters and discussed our most favourite and least favourite parts.

For the next few weeks, we hope you will enjoy reading some of our book reviews. This week the boys have reviewed ‘A Wrinkle in Time’, a science fiction novel by Madeline L’Engle.

‘A Wrinkle in Time’ by Madeline L’Engle

Reviewed by Stewart, Reece, Codie-Paul, Reece, Finley, and Aiden

‘A Wrinkle in Time’ follows the adventures of Meg, Charles and Calvin as they travel through time and space to save their father. This book inspired us to have many conversations about the ability to travel through time and space and what that would mean in real life.

We also meet three former stars that take on the bodies of old, eccentric women that help Meg and her family in the most curious ways.

We think you should read this book if the genre you are into is fantasy and sci-fi.

Our favourite line: “That isn’t Charles! Charles is gone!”

Our thoughts: Finley: “It wasn’t my type”. Reece: “It was really funny”. Reece: “It could be confusing at times”. Codie: “It had a really nice ending”. Aiden: “I would prefer a different genre”

3.2/5 – Reece
