Mr Hesketh in the ICT department was joined by David Whitehouse, the CEO of a company called inLife. They are a web design agency based in Staffordshire who specialise in providing web design and digital marketing solutions. David started his own business after graduating from Staffordshire University and is still passionate about encouraging young people in to the web design industry and trying to promote the creative side of ICT in the workplace.
After introducing himself as a young entrepreneur David explained how there is still a great demand for skilled artists, designers, developers and testers in the ICT industry. If you have a passion then you can make a success out of your gift or skill through ICT even if you don’t currently recognise that it is possible.
Students were tasked with re-designing the home page for the school website, maximising the usability of its features for tablets and smartphones, and incorporating new social media aspects. Students were given the freedom to apply their artistic or computing skills to produce a proposal that our technicians and web hosts can consider in their updates.
David struggled to pick just one stand-out individual student as all of those involved brought something unique and creative to the table. However it was decided after much deliberation that two groups of students stood out. For technical ability, teamwork and creativity he chose Elliot Davidson, Mason Hodhson, Luke Edmunds, Liam Murphy and Johann Santos as they were identified as extremely motivated and enthusiastic with great ideas and ability to visualise the completed project. For an ability to meet a specification and carefully consider the brief given he chose Mohdeep Dhaliwal and Harsimran Bajwa as excellent designers with a great ability to bring together a vision for a working product.
The work of the students will be featured on www.inLife.co.uk and a report about the morning will be published in their blog very soon.
