St Thomas More Catholic School went to the dogs to raise money for Dementia U.K. when their new Friends of St Thomas More society staged a race night and barbecue.
Set up only last December the Friends of St Thomas More has already raised enough money for the school to start creating their own Peace Garden in front of the top Willenhall school.
The event featured a DVD of races staged on the big screen in the main hall with each small bet producing a levy for the Friends' funds and the barbecue proving very popular.
Half the money from the Friday night frenzy went to complete the Peace Garden with the remainder going to Dementia U.K. “Just as importantly.” explained School Receptionist Jacqui Keen, a committee member on the Friends Group, “we enjoyed a near sell out with almost 150 tickets sold. It was a fabulous night. There were a few losers, but the school certainly won as we raised over £900.”
