Deputies:Jeevan Dulai, Owen Hill, Kiran Athwal, Charlotte Ward

Over the next few weeks we will have visits from a Labour MEP and a Conservative candidate in order to discuss how getting involved in politics can allow us to have a say in what happens to our country. We intend to present both sides of the arguments and will give reports to More News in due course.

Change to the length of the school day

The government is encouraging schools to stay open for longer. From September Year 11 and the Sixth Form will have lessons until 4pm. As our lunchtime ends at 2pm, two hours of study should be productive and prevent the need for afterschool revision coursework catch-up and will also allow some homework tasks to be completed. It will be easier for students, staff and parents to manage, as all students will have additional study time; ultimately this will give them the best chance to improve the results.

Lower year groups will have the option to stay for homework clubs or for an increased range of activities to include music and sport. If students have siblings in the older year groups at our school, they will still be able to travel home at the same time after an hour of an activity of their choice. We will be liaising with the bus companies to ensure that all students will have their transport needs met.

On Fridays, the plan is that students will leave at 3pm unless there is an exceptional need.
