Behaviour at St Thomas More is a very secure ‘Good’, many areas are ‘Outstanding’

I am delighted to say that our external behaviour review was extremely positive. We are awaiting the full report, but I would like to share a snapshot with you for now. The work that we have undertaken on British Values and Prevent (combatting extremism) was outstanding, uniform standards were excellent, there was a significant improvement on litter and lates to school. Within lessons students are far more engaged (less passive) and some excellent lessons were observed in a number of areas including maths, MFL and D.T. Outstanding artwork and outstanding displays in Geography were also commented upon. This is wonderful news, it means that behaviour facilitates our students’ learning. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our hardworking staff and supportive parents. However I would really like to acknowledge our students for their positive attitude to learning and their consideration and care for others, really well done!

Apps and planners

We are moving over to a much more electronic-based world. ‘Show my Homework’ has improved the quality and completion of homework and most correspondence between the school and home is now electronic. Please can I ask you to sign up for our app? It is a really efficient way for us to share information with you and for you to communicate with us (please see back page). With this in mind I shall be phasing out planners from half-term. If students feel the need to continue using them they may do so, but there will be no need for them to bring them with them as we are switching to an electronic system.
