Headteacher's notice - 11 September 2015

Welcome back to our new school year! We were delighted to see our students so smartly dressed and keen to start their studies. At St Thomas More we always aim for the highest standards in the way that we treat each other and try our best to make the most of every opportunity. We could not do this without the support of our families, the staff and I would like to thank you for the care and attention that you give our students and for your partnership work with us. Working together allows us to get the very best outcomes for learners.

This year we will aim to build upon our exam successes this summer. Our A level results were record-breaking, 58% of all grades were awarded at A* to B. We had students who got into Dentistry, Medicine, Law and other competitive courses. Congratulations to all of our students, including Paige Karadag who gained two A*'s and one A, and Harminder Kaur who gained one A* and two A's. Our GCSE results improved again, another 2% of our students gained 5 or more GCSEs including English and Maths, over 70% of our students were awarded A* to C in a number of subjects including History, Geography, German and English and in most vocational subjects, we are very proud of our students.

As a result of our good examination results and pastoral care our school is the biggest it has ever been, we have over 1500 students, including a record 294 in our sixth form. Our aim is to nurture each and every one of them to do their best and to love God and each other.
