Students with Minecraft Willow Man display

Olivia Hillier, Jai Muca, Aron Perkins, Hannah Woodhouse, Sam Lloyd are Year 7 students who take part in Literacy Intervention. They are currently reading and enjoying a story about The Willow Man, which we have adapted into a Minecraft version for our display. The story is woven around three main characters and The Willow Man. If you travel south on the M5 the Willow Man is near junction 23, the turn off for Bridgewater where the story is set.

ICT students

Mr Hesketh in the ICT department was joined by David Whitehouse, the CEO of a company called inLife. They are a web design agency based in Staffordshire who specialise in providing web design and digital marketing solutions. David started his own business after graduating from Staffordshire University and is still passionate about encouraging young people in to the web design industry and trying to promote the creative side of ICT in the workplace.

Student art work

Birdie Green recently won a place on an arts course for talented students from Midlands’ schools. The course took place at the Barbour Institute in Birmingham. Students had the opportunity to make works of art and discuss the permanent displays with experts, looking behind the scenes at how a gallery is run and handling famous works of art.

Soccer ball

On Wednesday 20th May, St Thomas More Catholic School took a Year 9 Boys/Girls Team to compete in the Team Sixteen Football Tournament. On this particular day, St Georges Park was host to the England Ladies Football Team, preparing for the World Cup – and they were visited by Prince William to wish them luck!

Rosary Prayer Group

Year 7 students of St Thomas More Catholic School, Willenhall have been learning about the Rosary on Wednesdays during Form Time each term. They have learnt about the mysteries of the Rosary which teach us the life of Jesus which Mary witnessed. A selective group of Year 7 students Alex Smith, Anastasia James and Callum Ferguson with Year 9 student Dominic Lockett made a presentation on the Rosary at a Year 10 assembly for 10MRS.

Last Wednesday, 29th April, saw this year’s Spring Concert.

It was a fantastic evening of entertainment, with students from every Year group taking part.

Summer school students build the Ark

St Thomas More Catholic School students felt like kings of the world when they built their own version of the Ark during their summer school,

The ten foot long wicker boat is now to be displayed in the Willenhall school's Peace Garden as a reminder of the team work and application that went into making the model.
