This week students at St Thomas More reflected on the contribution of British servicemen and women during assembly time to coincide with Armed Forces Day, which was marked in Cleethorpes on Saturday 25th June.

Air Cadets from Years 8 and 9 collaborated with Miss Vaughan (Head of History) to plan and prepare the assembly. The cadets (John and Christopher Mongan, Jake O’Brien and Luke Blundell) began with a drill and were led by Corporal Natasha Dowell. After an impressive introduction students learnt of the wider role of the Armed Forces and the different types of uniform worn by the Air Cadets. The underlying theme of the assembly was pride and respect for our Armed Forces, which ties in with the British Value of ‘Mutual Respect’. The Air Cadets were a credit to their squadrons and were exemplary throughout.
