Each year, as part of our transition process we offer the amazing opportunity for new Year 7 students to partake in our Summer School programme. With our ever-growing popularity, we received in excess of 130 applications this year, for just seventy places, plus ten places which we also offered to our Year 8 students, for them to have the opportunity come along as role models, and ensure that our new intake felt calm and welcomed in to their new environment.
Our first week was spent at St Thomas More, where an outstanding team of teachers and external groups delivered a number of workshops to entertain our students, anything from baking scones to trampolining to tent building! The second week we set off on the mammoth journey down to the seaside in Weymouth, to enjoy a jam packed week of exciting activities. We took part in their Sailing workshop, which was in fact the venue for the Sailing at the 2012 London Olympics, an absolutely amazing place for our students to witness a wonderful memory for them to treasure. Students also participated in the giant swing, zip wire, trapeze and abseiling! All in all the two weeks was an incredible success, ensuring that students made many new friends before their first day at St Thomas More.
