(Sunday May 8th.) Lift up your hearts

May we live in the hope that the words of Jesus will come true,

“where I am, you too shall be”.

We live in the forest of this world. We find it hard to see our way, or find meaning in our lives. Jesus, before he left this world took his disciples to the top of a mountain and showed them what could be theirs if they remained faithful to what he had taught them. We can all share in that new world and live in the hope that what Jesus said would come true “where I am, you too shall be”.

Mark 16 : 18-20.

Jesus led them out as far as Bethany,

raised his hands, and blessed them.

As he blessed them he parted from them

and was taken up to heaven.

They did him homage

and then returned to Jerusalem with great joy,

and they were continually in the temple praising God.

Father, we pray for those who find it difficult to see beyond the unimportant things of this world; those things that mislead and confuse. The search for wealth and glory that so often ends in disillusionment. May they hear the voice of Jesus, calling them to everlasting life in an eternal kingdom. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
