The tomb is empty-‘He is risen as he said he would’. ( Mk. 16)
We are reminded this week that light conquers darkness, that faith is stronger than doubt and that the love of God is greater than man’s hate and injustice. Through the prayers, symbols and readings of Good Friday we experienced the horror of the passion and death of Jesus, his friends were left in despair because it seemed that injustice defeated justice, evil had triumphed over love. The resurrection shows to us in a vivid way that death was not the end, that love overcomes all.
Jn 20: 1-3
On the first day of the week,
Mary of Magdala came to the tomb early in the morning,
while it was still dark,
and saw the stone removed from the tomb.
Father, in raising Jesus, your son from the dead, you opened for us the door to eternal life. May our recognition of this lift our hearts, and renew us in spirit through Christ, your son, who is Lord for ever and ever. Amen
Please remember in your prayers :Those who have died recently, those who experience little joy in their lives, the innocent who suffer in wars and conflict.
