This time of year is an appropriate time to give thanks to God for the gifts we receive. We think particularly now of the harvest. We remind ourselves too of the created world and all that is in it, including ourselves, created in the image and likeness of God. We give thanks for the beauty of our world, a reflection of God’s glory. We acknowledge and give thanks too for all those who work on the land and produce the harvest.

Lord, there is joy this season.

The earth has performed her miracle and out of the seed buried in darkness has come our daily bread.

Thank you for the rain and the sun that have called the seed out of the earth.

Thank you for those who have harvested the crops and brought them to us.

Thank you Lord for our food and drink.
