A person’s true wealth consists, not in what they keep, but in what they give away (Jewish saying).
Last week we gave thanks for the different gifts we receive from God, particularly the harvest. This week we remind ourselves of the injustice of the way some of these gifts are shared. We are often told by aid agencies one of whom is Cafod (Catholic Agency for Overseas Development) that the crisis of poverty, particularly hunger, is really a consequence of the unfair distribution of the world’s resources.
When Jesus came into the world, he broke down the walls that divide us from God.
He showed us too, how to break down those walls that keep us apart from each other.
Today we ask for you to help us to grow closer to each other through sharing with others what God, our Father has given us.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
