At the very depth of ourselves, we are on the threshold to the reality of God

Many people think that to be a saint is to be like someone else, to change and copy the life of another person. Yet really it is about becoming more fully ourselves that we become saints; to live a full live. To do that is to be in touch with who we really are. Within each of us is a divine spark that can be traced back to our origins in God. It is within our humanity and everyday experience that we discover the presence of God in, and part of, our lives. St Simeon wrote, ‘These hands of mine are the hands of God; this body of mine is the body of God because God became man’.

The call of the Lord is a call to be more fully ourselves.
To grow in openness and humanity,
to live lives that are more abundant.
Our lives can become like a sunrise
after a dark night, the sun after rain,
the healer after sickness, the peacemaker after conflict.
To discover what we are called to become
is to discover joy in our hearts.
